5 royals with tattoos: Lady Amelia Windsor, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and 3 other European blue bloods show off their ink
Taboo in some circles, body art is now making its mark across all echelons of society, with royals like Princess Sofia of Sweden, Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark and Pauline Ducruet sporting tigers, butterflies, dragons and sharks
As tattoos are still considered as taboo in society, can you imagine royals being inked? Blue bloods have a strict protocol when maintaining an elegant and polished appearance – however, we reveal five European royals who bent the rules and dared to bare their body art.
Lady Amelia Windsor
Dubbed a fashionista and “it” girl on and off the catwalk, Lady Amelia Windsor is no ordinary royal. Lady Amelia is the granddaughter of the queen’s cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, and is 39th in line to the throne – meaning she could get away with experimenting with rebellious expressions. She has tattoos on her wrists including three bear cubs, a tiger on her left shoulder blade and a petal on her rib cage.
Princess Sofia of Sweden
Meghan Markle was not the first TV star who snatched a prince’s heart – Sofia Kristina Hellqvist married Prince Carl Philip, who is fourth in line to the Swedish throne, in 2015.
Before her princess diaries began, she was a glamour model and reality TV star – so even on her wedding day, she wasn’t shy to flaunt a part of her, which was a fully-displayed sunburst tattoo on her upper back. Plus, she has a large butterfly on her rib cage and a mini motif on her ankle.
