Tourism

Now is a good time to sit back and dream of life post-coronavirus, when travel bans are lifted and we can treat ourselves to that well-deserved trip of a lifetime

First of all, it is a fact that our planet is pretty incredible. From ancient archaeological sites to natural features like canyons and cliffs, just about every corner of the world offers special spots to explore. Greece is home to idyllic pink-sand beaches, Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni salt flat offers stunning optical illusion-esque views, and the vibrant blue water of Moraine Lake in Canada is nothing short of picture-perfect.

We’ve gathered 10 of the most breathtaking views in the world that everyone should enjoy with their own eyes.

1. Antarctica

That’s right, we put an entire continent on here. Although 99 per cent of Antarctica is covered with ice, the landscape still manages to be stunningly diverse – surreal blue glaciers, active volcanoes, the rough waterways of the Drake Passage, and 360-degree views of untouched snow. And those views are made even better when an emperor penguin or humpback whale makes an appearance.

2. Antelope Canyon, Arizona

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon (and serious Instagram darling) in the American Southwest. Its Navajo name translates to “the place where water runs through rocks”, an allusion to the canyon’s creation through erosion. The narrow, undulating spaces between rock formations allow for vivid patterns when sunlight filters through the striated stone.

3. Boracay, Philippines

With its gentle coastlines and transporting sunsets, it’s easy to see why Boracay was voted one of the best islands in the world by our readers. Unfortunately, it’s become too touristy – the island closed for “rehabilitation” last year to compensate for overcrowding and unregulated development; it’s since reopened to a limited number of visitors per day.
