STYLE Edit: Actor Eddie Peng well suited to his new role as modern elegant Berluti gentleman
Star models winter 2019 collection, focused of brand’s sophisticated craftsmanship such as artisanal-inspired marbled suit and emblematic shoes with diamond-shaped toes
Taiwanese-Canadian actor, singer and model Eddie Peng is the brand ambassador for Berluti’s winter 2019 collection, which features an advertising campaign with contemporary looks that draw inspiration from the brand’s heritage.
Conceived by the brand’s artistic director Kris Van Assche and shot by British photographer Alasdair McLellan, the campaign shows Peng, who is known for his breakout role in the 2017 fantasy film Wu Kong, wearing two looks that epitomise the modern, elegant Berluti gentleman.
In one outfit, Peng wears a formal grey wool marble suit with a matching silk shirt and tie.
The marble is a house code that alludes to the old marble tables where Berluti artisans would perform the patina for shoes at Manifattura Berluti.
Sophisticated craftsmanship is still very much at the forefront of the brand vision, extending to the double-breasted jacket worn by Peng with hand-stitched details on the chest, lapel and cuff. The jacket is also fully lined in the luxuriously soft Scritto jacquard.
Another house code, the Scritto motif, was first introduced in 2004 and pays tribute to the calligraphy of an 18th century manuscript.
The Scritto jacquard is also apparent in Peng’s second look, where he wears a Scritto jacquard-lined dark-grey lamb leather jacket. The result involves a neat, clean silhouette that highlights the Taiwanese actor’s elegant demeanour and Berluti’s meticulous work with numerous textiles.
