The popularity of BLACKPINK is sky high.
Featured in the 2019 March issue of Billboard, BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to grace the cover page of the magazine. In edition, the members’ upcoming concerts at the Coachella 2019 music festival in California will make them the first all-female Korean band to be invited for an onstage performance.
Today we celebrate Lisa’s 22nd birthday by looking at four reasons we love and admire the youngest member of BLACKPINK.
She is fiercely determined
Originally named Pranpriya Manoban, the star changed her name to Lalisa before settling on her stage name, Lisa. Longing to entertain, Lisa took part in an audition organised by YG Entertainment in Thailand in 2010, where she outshone the competition.
Winning first place, Lisa was the only candidate – and the first non-Korean artist – to be accepted as a trainee at YG Entertainment. She made her public debut as a member of BLACKPINK when the group launched in 2016.
