Rafa Cabrera Bello is all good, but here are 5 other hot golfers we won’t be seeing at the Hong Kong Open

Spain’s Rafa Cabrera Bello is a huge favourite with golf fans, and will be back in Hong Kong for his third attempt at winning the Open, at the Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling, from November 22-25. Photo: AP

The Honma Hong Kong Open is back for its 60th edition on Thursday with many of the world’s leading golfers heading to Hong Kong for the event that marks the start of the European Tour season – and the 2019 Race to Dubai.

They will be hoping to score some early points to reach the Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, held at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

The Hong Kong Open, with its US$2 million purse, will be played at Hong Kong Golf Club’s Fanling course over four days, ending on Sunday.

With fans of the sport keen to walk around the course hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite golfing stars, we take a look at a few of the best-looking men – and women – golfers playing the sport at the moment.

Justin Rose

Rose, 38, of England, was the 2016 Olympic gold medallist in Rio de Janeiro, the 2013 US Open champion – and winner of the Hong Kong Open in 2015.

His chiselled jaw and blue eyes make him one of the dreamiest players on tour. Add to that a charming personality and it’s easy to see why women swoon over the world No 1.

Lexi Thompson

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has some stand-out stars of its own.

The American world No 8 Lexi Thompson is certainly one of them.

At the age of 12 she was the youngest golfer to qualify and play in the Ladies US Open, and three years later, in 2010, she turned professional.

The 23 year-old already has won one major trophy and she is only just getting started.

Rafa Cabrera Bello

Where Rose is prince charming, Cabrera Bello exudes pure sex appeal.

The world No 26 may still be searching for his first major trophy, but he comes up near the top of our list.

Narrowly missing out on wins at the Hong Kong Open – with a second-place finish in 2016 and a tie for second place last year – he will be back this year hoping it is third-time lucky.

The 6-foot 2-inch (1.9-metre) tall Spaniard is a huge favourite with golf fans and their partners.

Cabrera Bello is gorgeous, charming – and unfortunately newly married.

Natalie Gulbis

Men’s Health magazine has called Gulbis, 35, “the blonde bombshell of golf” in its “20 hottest women golfers” list.

While the American may be known for her looks, she has the skills to match them – winning the Evian Masters in 2007 in a play-off against South Korea’s Jeong Jang.

She also appeared in the 2012 Sports Illustrated swimwear issue in nothing but body paint.

Rickie Fowler

Fowler brings something completely different to the game of golf – a little bit surfer and little bit bad boy, and the 28-year old American definitely spices things up.

As an amateur he stayed atop the world rankings for 37 weeks during 2007 and 2008 and reached a career high of fourth in the world as a professional in 2016 after winning the Race to Dubai.

However, we chose him for this list because of his sense of humour after he and fellow golfers Bubba Watson, Ben Crane and Hunter Mahan formed “Golf Boys” and released this music video with proceeds going to charity.

Nelly Korda

Korda turned professional only two years ago and already has one LPGA and one Symetra Tour win under her belt.

The 20-year-old American world No 33 is one of the up-and-coming stars to watch.
