  • The original Cartier Santos-Dumont was created in 1904 by Louis Cartier, and its 21st century updates include the ‘skeleton’ version the actor sported at this year’s Oscars
  • At the 2023 Met Gala, Quan channelled his inner Karl Lagerfeld, wearing an iconic Omega Speedmaster ‘57 with a green dial over his shirt cuff

Ke Huy Quan, everyone’s favourite comeback hero, stole the show at last year’s Oscars, picking up a best supporting actor trophy win for his stand-out performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
At this year’s 96th Academy Awards in March, he was back on the red carpet, this time to announce the Robert Downey Jr as winner in the same category, 12 months on.

Yet, what really turned heads this time was his attention-grabbing wristwatch – a Cartier Santos Dumont Micro Rotor. The timepiece was a reflection of Quan’s evolving style, and marked a departure from the actor’s usual choice of watch brand, Omega.

Here’s a closer look at some of the luxury watches Quan has been spotted wearing after his well-deserved return to Hollywood’s A-list.

Quan’s choice of watch at the 2024 Oscars was a piece that has paid homage to pioneering aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont since its creation in 1904 by Louis Cartier.

Though the Santos-Dumont has been around for more than a century, it recently received some modern updates, including this new “skeleton” version which offers a clear view into the intricate workings of the watch.

This particular model features a unique micro-rotor, shaped like Santos-Dumont’s own Le Demoiselle plane, in an 18k yellow gold and blue lacquer case with a navy blue alligator leather strap that complemented Quan’s maroon tuxedo beautifully. Look closer, and you’ll notice the watch’s sword-shaped hands in polished blue steel.
