Style Edit: Cartier brings Christmas magic to its revamped boutique at Causeway Bay’s Lee Garden Five, where architecture firm Moinard Bétaille created elegant homages to Hong Kong
Parisian jewellery maison Cartier has unveiled a revamped boutique in Causeway Bay incorporating elements that recall Hong Kong’s classic scenes and nature – and it’s giving festive fun for Christmas
The newly refurbished store was unveiled at a glittering opening party on Friday, December 13. The 839 square metre duplex has re-emerged as a striking visual tribute to the city it calls home.
Conceptualised by French architecture firm Moinard Bétaille, the boutique’s design draws on Hong Kong’s culture, with features that echo the shape of unmistakable local sights like the sails of traditional junk boats, the Chinese birdcages of local markets, and the towering edifices that define the city’s skyline – along with plentiful nods to the lush greenery of the city’s mountains.
Inside, visitors will encounter a series of themed areas, each showcasing unique aesthetic nods to Hong Kong. Guests enter the boutique in the Feminine Universe area, which is inspired by Chinese gardens and features an orchid mural in straw marquetry that was created in collaboration with French painter Cédric Peltier.
On the grand staircase leading to the glasshouse-inspired upper floor, a six-metre-tall plaster bas-relief feature wall depicts three Cartier Panthères prowling through classic scenes of Hong Kong.
