This year the Ice Cube has been dynamically reimagined in an haute joaillerie capsule. This collection features a choker and bracelet that blend the iconic cube shape with the brilliance of diamonds, crafted through the artistry of Chopard’s Mains d’Art workshops.
Inspired by the Bauhaus movement of the early 20th century – a revolutionary design philosophy that emphasised simplicity, functionality and the harmony of form and purpose – Chopard’s new high jewellery collection introduces a cube motif with a contemporary twist. With its six square faces, the cube embodies the symmetry and strength that often characterise modern architecture.
While staying true to the idea behind the motif, the collection takes a bold approach. Each handcrafted cube varies in height and creates a dynamic profile reminiscent of an urban skyline. The design allows the pieces to interweave into a flexible mesh that moves gracefully and sensually with the body.
The Ice Cube collection features a diamond-set choker and cuff crafted from 18k rose gold and adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds. Creating these intricate pieces took six years of meticulous work using diamond-equipped tools to achieve perfect milling. Each mirror-polished surface, as well as the diamond pavé and gem setting, is hand finished. The cube’s faceted edges capture light, creating dazzling points of reflection that enhance the jewellery’s sparkle. Finally, careful polishing with a pad ensures that each piece radiates brilliance.
Chopard’s commitment to sustainability is a cornerstone of the Ice Cube story. Not only does it smelt its own gold, but since 2018 it has exclusively used 100 per cent ethical gold, sourced from mines adhering to stringent environmental and social standards. This ethical gold comes from two transparent and traceable schemes: freshly mined artisanal gold produced responsibly, and Chain of Custody gold from refineries certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
