When it comes to jewellery to symbolise a marital union, the wedding ring will always take centre stage but there are other types of jewellery that can also be tied to the milestone. From pieces that can be worn every day to bigger designs that can be part of the bridal jewellery trousseau, getting married is the perfect excuse to build on your collection, with the sentimental value attached to them making them immediate heirlooms.

Chaumet is famous for being the official jewellery of choice for Joséphine, Empress of the French and Napoleon Bonaparte’s consort, and paid tribute to her with its Joséphine collection. Another monarch – Britain’s Queen Victoria – received a ring from husband Prince Albert that was fashioned like a serpent to represent their everlasting love. Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti collection (worn by no less than the princess of pop herself, Taylor Swift) is the place to look for couples wanting the same emblem to wear day-to-day, whether as a watch, pair of earrings, necklace or bracelet.
