The symbol of the butterfly has been associated with global musical icon Mariah Carey since the release of her 1997 album of the same name, a turning point in her career that saw her take greater control of her work. Now the singer-songwriter has come together with Swiss jewellery masters Chopard to create two collections to celebrate these delicate creatures.

The Chopard x Mariah Carey Collection features a necklace, a pair of earrings and a ring, all entirely paved in diamonds; while the Happy Butterfly x Mariah Carey Collection transforms Chopard’s Happy Diamonds collection with butterflies, their wings paved with either diamonds or carnelian.

Carey approached the maison to create the collections because of its unmistakable aesthetic and its commitment to ethical values, in particular the use of certified Fairmined gold.

“I hope the wearers feel empowered and happy. Butterflies are a symbol of metamorphosis conveying renewed aspirations and a free-spirited approach to life so we hope to inspire women to live feeling free and empowered,” says Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of the maison.
