We in Hong Kong now have the chance to release our inner creativity by painting dramatic pictures in the air without even picking up a brush, thanks to an exciting competition from Italian luxury watchmaker Panerai. The Light Painting Competition – Luminate Your Time Challenge, at the brand’s Canton Road flagship boutique in Tsim Sha Tsui until November 21, offers a whole new way to flex your creative muscles.
All participants need to do is “paint” in the air with their movements using only light, with the results photographed using a very long exposure lasting up to a minute. As well as the fun of creating their own painting, participants also have the chance to win prizes, including a light painting workshop and a grand prize of a Panerai Watch Winder.
At the same time, they’ll have the chance to check out some very special new pieces from the celebrated Italian luxury watch brand. These include the Submersible Chrono Flyback Mike Horn Edition, reference Pam01291, the latest expression of a collaboration stretching back two decades with South African explorer and adventurer Mike Horn, whose many achievements have included travelling around the equator without motorised transport, and circumnavigating the Arctic Circle solo. Limited to only 500 pieces, the 47mm brushed titanium watch features a blue dial with luminous hour markers and dots, and is powered by the P. 9100 movement.
Also new to the Panerai party is the sophisticated Piccolo Due Madreperla, reference Pam01280, part of the Luminor Due line. With the P. 900 movement at its heart, its 38mm case is made from Panerai’s proprietary alloy Goldtech, and it comes with a dial in iridescent white mother-of-pearl.
