Taiwan’s high society heirs and heiresses – whose family includes the likes of YC Wang, Terry Gou and Tsai Eng-meng – might take a more low profile approach to wealth, but that doesn’t mean their lives aren’t filled with bling

Taiwan might not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about outrageously opulent living. Unlike the elite members of its outwardly opulent and bustling cousins Hong Kong and Singapore, the island’s richest inhabitants prefer to keep things on the down-low. But that doesn’t mean their wealth goes unnoticed. As of 2020, the country’s top 50 richest people have a combined net worth of an estimated US$112 billion. Here are the top five real-life Crazy Rich Asians in Taiwan that we adore.

Tsai Wang-chia

Given that Tsai Wang-chia likes to keep a low profile, most of the information available on him revolves around his professional achievements. He presently serves as COO and executive director at snack food giant Want Want China Holdings, which is owned by his billionaire father, Tsai Eng-meng, whose net worth is currently valued at US$6 billion, according to Forbes. His brother, Tsai Chin-chung, is also an executive director at the company.

Delia Tseng

As the wife of Foxconn’s billionaire founder and one-time political candidate Terry Gou, Delia Tseng indeed lives a life of decadence. But this dance instructor’s penchant for luxury is hardly in-your-face. Case in point: her super-private wedding in 2008 was attended by just 300 guests, who enjoyed a banquet of hearty Taiwanese dishes. The couple has three children.

Aimee Sun

Aimee Sun’s social magnitude is multifaceted. She’s a recognised socialite with a solid presence in Taipei’s high society scene; she is, after all, the daughter of Taipei’s corporate power couple Sun Tao-tsun and Ho Nien-tsu. But this Taiwanese beauty is also famous for being a media personality, jewellery designer and commercial actress. Her celebrity status skyrocketed even more when she co-founded Breeze Center, a well-known shopping centre in Taipei. The University of Southern California graduate is currently married to entrepreneur Henry Liao.
