Na Jaemin only left his teenage years behind last month, turning 20 on August 13 – on the Western calendar anyway, the NCT Dream star is already 21 in Korea – however he’s already earned legions of dedicated fans. His birthday celebrations included two ‘Korea firsts’
The scale of his fan-organised birthday celebrations this year were so big that they involved two firsts. His Chinese fan site, known as JaeminBar, collected donations from fans to set up an insanely expensive 13-part blowout for him in August, including collaborating with Seoul’s Coex Aquarium for a water show and electronic walkway dedicated to the star.
The aquarium declared the event and walkway to be the first time they had let fans fund such a collaboration. Meanwhile, JaeminBar also rented a satellite to send up a congratulatory message in Morse code across the Seoul sky.
He has already won an acting award
Famous for singing in a boy band, Jaemin may only have one K-drama under his belt, but he is already been recognised for his talent. Jaemin’s role in popular web drama Way to Dislike You won him the best Korean actor honour at this year’s Seoul Webfest awards – an impressive feat considering he was up against another 190 global web series and their actors.
