A symbol of eternal love, good fortune and transformation, the humble butterfly has long captivated jewellers – with London’s Graff finding the inspiration behind its new high jewellery collection, expressed through the mastery of its renowned diamond cutters

A symbol of eternal love, good fortune and transformation, the butterfly has long been a favourite motif of jewellers across the world. At Graff, it has been more than just a decorative design. Over the last few years, the London-based jewellery house has created numerous jewels inspired by the perfect and delicate form of the butterfly.

Synonymous with the rarest and most valuable stones, Graff’s high jewellery collection has beautifully adopted the butterfly motif for its exquisite rings, earrings, necklaces and even watches. “I find the remarkable patterns, colours and designs on butterflies’ wings mesmerising. It is with the outline of precious stones that we attempt to recreate their extraordinary silhouettes,” says Anne-Eva Geffroy, Graff’s design director.

The Classic Butterfly was Graff’s first collection to capture the movement and fluidity of the animal through enchanting pieces of jewellery. Graff’s design team and master craftsmen worked together to create the magical aesthetic of a butterfly through strikingly simple compositions of pear-shaped and marquise gemstones. Crafted with a sublime lightness of touch, these unique jewellery designs lend a whimsical air to the finished pieces.

The skill of Graff’s diamond cutters is renowned. The jewellery house is popular for its impeccable techniques of diamond cutting, polishing and setting of complicated pieces. It takes many years for the craftsmen at Graff to hone their ability to enhance the beauty of various stones to complement the house’s trademark design and diamond-settings.

The maison’s inimitable style and mastery in gemstones is seen in the Pavé Butterfly collection that showcases opulent clusters of pink, yellow and white diamonds, vibrant sapphires, stunning emeralds and elegant rubies in the best colour, clarity and quality. Featuring either a single or multiple butterflies with outstretched wings, vibrant clusters of pavé diamonds converge upon a magnificent marquise stone in this graceful collection.
