6 luxury Hong Kong hotels offering special deals to chase away the coronavirus blues
Hotels are fighting back against the impact of Covid-19 – which has decimated the global hospitality industry – by offering packages designed to create unforgettable experiences
The global hospitality industry is in turmoil as it tries to deal with recommendations for people to avoid cruises or non-essential travel.
Hong Kong is no exception, and it has stepped up restrictions including quarantine for all inbound travellers, which further reduces the numbers of business and leisure travellers from overseas.
In the face of this challenge, hotels in Hong Kong are offering a host of attractive packages – from immunity boost to wellness programmes – to support local businesses. Details of the health precautions being taken are available on each hotel’s website.
1. W Hong Kong
The W Hong Kong in West Kowloon combines fresh air and sunshine in its lavish Amp up your stay package. It features a room upgrade (to Fabulous), breakfast, a W Recharge Pack – which includes masks and hand sanitiser – an in-room popcorn-accompanied movie set-up and hotel dining credits. Guests get to indulge in a succulent W grab-and-go basket set for two (with wine), either in-room or on a private trip to an Instagramable location with stunning Victoria Harbour views. Stay indoors but be entertained with plenty of savoury food and drinks.
2. The Landmark Mandarin Oriental
If it’s a temporary respite that’s needed, head to the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for its Urban Escape. The package, available until April 25, includes a free room upgrade, discounts at renowned dining outlets such as Amber, Somm and MO Bar, spa credit, a bespoke, rejuvenating Bathtub Experience, breakfast and a leisurely late checkout. There are also Le Petit Prince amenities for children in the event that the Urban Escape is a family affair.
The property offers a special Egg-specially For You Easter package until April 13. Apart from enjoying a spacious room or suite, children and families are treated with private Easter egg hunt prepared by the hotel’s pastry chef, plus pampering themselves in a luxurious bubble bath in its signature-foot round tub.
