Everyone is born with special stars in their birth chart – and they can be activated during certain years, months and days.

Chinese astrology is based upon the following three theories and principles: a combination of yin-yang, the five elements – fire, earth, metal, water and wood – and the 12 animals of the zodiac. The astrological feng shui month follows the solar system, therefore it runs from the middle of the first week of one month to the next, usually between the fifth to eighth of each month.

However, in February, the start of the feng shui year always begins on the fourth.

Energy of the Ox: Hardworking, principled, leadership, intuitive

The Ox corresponds to the hours between: 1am-3am

The twelfth and last month of the Chinese calendar year is represented by the Ox, the final month of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

Those born in the darkest hours reach out to the light. They dislike having miserable people around them and try to bring laughter to others. They may be jokers, and this sometimes works against them. At critical moments, they may not be taken seriously.

This Ox month is all about business, making money and moving forward, while listening more and talking less. This month brings balance and calm as we brace ourselves for the transition period between the two new years. It’s time for strategy and planning as we prepare for the Lunar New Year – my all-time favourite time of the year.

Be bold, be bullish!

Mythologically, the Ox was the messenger between Heaven and Earth, bringing dreams – strange images that prepare us for the year ahead while helping to process the one that has passed. The ancient Chinese pictogram of the Ox (chou) shows a hand, which symbolises the means by which the invisible becomes visible through action and expression. Life is cyclical, offering us the opportunity to make corrections and achieve our goals with another year of wisdom to draw on. This is the time of the year for rebirth, renewal and reflection.
