  • The first month of winter in the northern hemisphere brings us into the 10th solar month of 2023, which happens to be ruled by the Water Pig, lasting from November 8 to December 7
  • Some famous Pigs include Woody Allen, Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, Emma Thompson and David Letterman; the sign is known for its innate wisdom – and loving parties and the company of others

Everyone is born with special stars in their birth chart – and they can be activated during certain years, months and days.

Chinese astrology is based upon the following three theories and principles: a combination of yin-yang, the five elements – fire, earth, metal, water and wood – and the 12 animals of the zodiac. The astrological feng shui month follows the solar system, therefore it runs from the middle of the first week of one month to the next, usually between the fifth to eighth of each month.

Energy of the Pig: Wealth, home life, social activities

The Pig corresponds to the hours between: 9-11pm

November is traditionally a time for sowing and planting seeds and spring bulbs, as well as sowing vegetables and fruit trees. Pigs tend to be most active during this month and, in the wild, this is the month when wild boars forage for their all-time favourite truffles and root vegetables.

Historically, November holds several sombre celebrations associated with “death”, with Halloween at the end of October, All Soul’s Day on November 2, and the ancient Gaelic festival of Samhain, which used to be one of the biggest festivals in Britain and Ireland. This was the time to mourn the dead while making offerings to fairies. The preoccupation of death echoes what is happening in nature, with the final leaves falling to the earth to prepare and offer a nourishing environment for spring growth.

Innocent, sweet and lovable: these are just some of the characteristics of those born in the Year of the Pig. At times melancholy and oversensitive, Pigs love the company of others, parties, gossip and chit chat. Born with an innate wisdom, they make good catalysts for interesting conversation and love nothing more than being the first to know what’s happening in their social environment.

The Pig symbol also relates to wealth, which is why we have piggy banks! Attract wealth into your home and office by placing wealth symbols such as pigs in the northwest.

Those born in Pig years or have a Pig represented in their birth chart (ba-zi) tend to be industrious yet careful about how they use their energy. Their general philosophy on life is, what is the point of working hard? They prefer to work well! Although often highly intelligent, they prefer to keep this side of their nature hidden.
