Everyone is born with special stars in their birth chart – and they can be activated during certain years, months and days.

Chinese astrology is based upon the following three theories and principles: a combination of yin-yang, the five elements – fire, earth, metal, water and wood – and the 12 animals of the zodiac. The astrological feng shui month follows the solar system, therefore it runs from the middle of the first week of one month to the next, usually between the fifth to eighth of each month.

Energy of the Dog: Loyalty, security, consistency

The Dog corresponds to the hours between: 7-9pm

The month of October is considered to be the twilight of the year when the mists roll in preparation for winter and the days become shorter, on and thereafter October 29. Leaves turn into their most magical pantones of warmth and vibrancy to create a harmonising quality of yin yang as with everything in nature creates its own balance.

The Dog month is a time of transition. As the “Tomb of Fire”, there may be some warm days – a kind of swan song before the nights dim in the northern hemisphere and there is a hush before the entrance of winter. The Qi movement of this time is now beginning to contract and draw in.

As the body and mind prepare for winter, the Chinese art of yang sheng fa (healthy living) advocates nourishing foods for the kidneys such as warm soups and stews. These will start to replenish our jing (life essence), which may have been strained by the fullness of the year. There is also a coming together of the community, turning towards home and family.

The Water Dog month indicates movement – a change of direction while offering protection and loyalty to those who are committed to their core values, plans and dreams of a better stable future. The energy of the Dog has little judgment and enjoys spending time with any age group.
