  • For those who fancy an upgrade to road trips, look no further than these RVs from EarthRoamer, Marchi Mobile, Hymer and Nomad Vanz – two are priced at millions
  • Helicopter-like windscreens, fighter-jet exteriors, a sky lounge roof deck, surfboard storage and Bose surround sound are just some of the features to expect

When it comes to air travel, we’re all familiar with cramped seats where you barely have any personal space. With this in mind, airlines have long been one-upping each other by offering customers the most deluxe in-flight experience possible in their first class cabins – at a hefty price, of course. But what if you could experience that sort of upgrade while travelling on the ground?

Enter Marchi Mobile, which has created what it calls “the most luxurious mobile home in the world”, the eleMMent Palazzo Superior. Hailing from Germany, the company prides itself on its extravagantly styled luxury trucks, vans and recreational vehicles (RVs), and its designers have borrowed from the worlds of motorsports, aviation and yachting in forging its futuristic form.

The vehicle’s tapered front of high-performance carbon fibre is reminiscent of a sports car design while above sits that extraordinary helicopter-like windscreen, embracing a cabin that is more fighter jet than caravan, and that can be tinted against the sun at the push of a button.

Further back, yacht-like side windows let in natural light while the robust body provides insulation against all weathers, meaning this is a motorhome for year-round comfort, not to mention some style. Literally on top of all that, the sky lounge roof deck can be raised to provide a panoramic view of your surroundings, or of the incredulous faces of fellow drivers wondering which planet you just beamed down from.

The living space doesn’t stint on standards either. There’s a four-metre sofa, a generous flat-screen TV and an open kitchenette with plenty of space to entertain guests. And you can rest easy in the master bedroom with its king-size bed made by Hypnos, the company that provides beds for the British royal family.

2. Hymer Grand Canyon S CrossOver – US$121,000 (HK$950,000)

Ideal for those who love an adventure, and built on a Mercedes-Benz base, the Hymer Grand Canyon S CrossOver has enhanced torque, traction and stability to help it take on even the roughest of terrain. Naturally, if you are headed far off the grid, you’ll be happy to have the camper’s beefy power supply too, driven by a 90 watt solar installation and Hymer’s Smart Battery system that grant self-sufficiency for up to 10 days. There’s also a heater to keep you toasty on expeditions up high.
