  • Described as ‘a salon under the sea’, the six-person Triton 3300/6 offers 360-degree views from the world’s largest transparent spherical passenger compartment
  • Pair it with your superyacht for the best results – is an underwater getaway vehicle 2021’s coolest luxury purchase?

What: Triton 3300/6 personal submarine

How much: US$5.5 million

Why: While some of us are still reeling from the dumpster fire that was 2020, an optimistic few – with a fair few millions in disposable income – can cast their eye towards the boundless blue seas of possibility in 2021, both figuratively and literally, with Triton’s new personal submersible.

Taking luxury travel to new, umm, heights, the company has simultaneously taken social distancing to sub-aquatic levels with the first six-person leisure submarine.

If looking out onto drab grey streets and skyscrapers got you down last year, the Triton 3300/6 offers the world’s largest transparent spherical passenger compartment, with 360-degree views of the ocean depths.

The submarine has a certified rating of 1,000 metres, which means your underwater show will be wondrously exclusive. For the sake of comparison, “deep sea” is defined as anything below 200 metres (the world record for a scuba dive is 332 metres).

Admittedly, the idea of being submerged so deeply underwater might not sit well with submechanophobes – people with a fear of submerged man-made objects. But, if you’ve made it through 2020, the deep sea’s perpetual darkness or skull-crushing pressure might just feel like another Thursday.
