The Italian maison kicked off the celebrations with a Ballerina Party on October 10, where Hong Kong film stars sported its latest clothing and handbag designs including new Vara ballet flats
A simple silhouette that evokes timeless elegance and confident femininity, Ferragamo’s Ballerina collection has been a versatile wardrobe staple since it was first conceived 70 years ago. Stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood like Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman and Greta Garbo, as well as dancers Anna Pavlova, Katherine Dunham and Alicia Markova, were among those who loved the shoe and had Ballerinas made especially for them.
To celebrate the beloved shoe’s 70th anniversary, Ferragamo is hosting Ballerina Month – over 30 days of special events and experiences in Hong Kong. Between October 1 and November 4, Ferragamo is honouring the traditions of Italian shoemaking alongside the graceful art of ballet with a series of events hosted at the brand’s Harbour City boutique. For the celebrations, the boutique has been transformed with the theme Ferragamo Micro Cinema, taking its cues from Italian movie theatres, while providing a common thread linking various events throughout the month.

Ballerina Month is anchored by several flagship events, including a talk by Hong Kong Ballet artistic director Septime Webre, and an exclusive Ballerina Party paying homage to the house’s most famous silhouette as well as the artistry shared between film and dance.
The Ballerina Party on October 10 kicked off the celebrations by announcing Ferragamo’s title sponsorship of the Hong Kong Ballet’s 45th Anniversary International Ballet Gala.
In keeping with the cinema theme, the party saw a star-studded line-up of guests from the world of motion pictures, including Hong Kong Film Award recipients Jennifer Yu and Louise Wong. Both actresses sported the latest clothing and handbag designs from Ferragamo and completed their looks with the star of the hour – the brand’s new Vara plate ballet flats.
At the party, guests mingled while exploring Ferragamo’s latest Ballerina collection, including creations inspired by the shoe first created for Audrey Hepburn. The sophisticated design gets a fresh look with merino wool and laces across the instep that fasten with a metallic double F closure. The shoe features a classic Opanka sole construction and is available in several colour schemes.
