Milan Fashion Week: Fendi’s star-studded runway show saw Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Kate Moss gracing the front row as models showed off colour-blocked leather pieces and knitwear
- Demi Moore, Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie, Naomi Watts and other celebrities enjoyed Fendi’s presentation at Milan Fashion Week, which featured fine knitwear with chain and cut-out details
- Kim Jones, in his sixth season at the luxury fashion house after succeeding Karl Lagerfeld as womenswear designer, received applause on a runway decorated in Insta-worthy oversized casts of Fendi bags
Kim Jones’ spring/summer 2024 collection for Fendi unveiled during the first day of Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday was a twist on knitwear anchored by leather.
The first look set the tone: a form-hugging colour-block knit dress in mocha, baby blue, salmon and ivory, with a double sash trailing at the waist lending drama and movement. A tricoloured clutch gave the right accent.
The collection overall was dainty. Knitwear was as a rule very fine, accented at times by thin golden chains creating details on open backs. Slinky, clinging monochrome knit dresses had peekaboo cut-outs.
The twinset top gave way to built-in layers and sleeves that wrapped around the body for a mysterious swirl. Dresses ruched around the body too, suggesting constant motion.
