French maison reminds us of its ‘It’s all about the seconds’ philosophy

Life can change in a second, according to Chanel. The French brand has enlisted a stellar group of personalities to pinpoint that second when a life was changed forever, as when Liu Wen decided to buy a train ticket to Beijing, and the modelling career that followed. Keira Knightley shared intensely personal moments – getting her daughter to sleep, a visual souvenir of her mother. Every second counts, whether it’s a professional decision or a flash of sentiment.

Lily-Rose Depp, William Chan, Naomi Campbell and Vanessa Paradis are among others sharing these vital seconds for Chanel, which has marked 20 years of its J12 with a new iteration, reminding us of the “It’s all about the seconds” philosophy. In signature black or white ceramic and steel, the J12 is the diving watch which became an essential fashion accessory.

The new J12 is powered by the COSC-certified automatic Calibre 12.1, which upgrades the power reserve to 70 hours. The design has been streamlined but most of the changes are so subtle as to go unnoticed, such as the slightly wider dial and the modifications to the numerals and graphics on the lacquered dial.
