Seven Chinese Victoria’s Secret Angels you need to know

The first Victoria’s Secret Fashion show in China opens tonight. While tickets to the extravaganza are not officially on sale, admission is fetching up to $350,000 yuan (HK$412,310) online. Taking place in Shanghai, the show features seven Chinese models among the 55-strong stellar line-up – the highest number of Chinese models in a Victoria’s Secret event to date.

British heartthrob Harry Styles is flying in to perform at the show, which will be broadcast on November 29.

Ahead of tonight’s show, we take a look at the Chinese models – some are familiar faces while others are newcomers. They are set to walk one of the most viewed runway shows on earth – the show has over 800 million viewers annually.

Liu Wen

Ranked as one of the world’s highest-paid models by Forbes magazine, the 29-year-old supermodel was the first Asian model to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway in 2009. She also ranked among the top three in the Top 50 Models List by Models.com in 2013.

The regular VS Angel will join a group of international supermodels, such as Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosi, on the runway tonight. In addition, Lais Ribeiro will be wearing a US$2 million fantasy bra.

Sui He

The 28-year-old model has taken part in every Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since her debut in 2011. The Wenzhou-born beauty was a professional swimmer prior to joining the fashion business.

Estelle Chen

At the tender age of 19, the Paris-born model is turning heads in the fashion world. Chen has walked the runway for various fashion houses, including Dior, Louis Vuitton, Kenzo, Fendi and Miu Miu.

Xin Xie

Like Chen, Xin Xie is a new Chinese face in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The 22-year-old has not only walked for Miu Miu and Giambattista Valli, but also appeared in editorials for Vogue China.

Wang Yi

The 20-year-old model won the 10th China Super Model Final Contest in Beijing. She has also appeared in editorials for ELLE and Men’s JOKER and more.

Ming Xi made her debut on the runway of Paris’ Givenchy haute couture show in 2010, and has since worked for various fashion houses such as Chanel and Dior. Xi majored in fashion design and acting, and graduated from Shanghai Donghua University. She made her breakthrough in a modelling competition.

Xiao Wen Ju

Ju started modelling in 2010 after being discovered by IMG Model Management.

She then graced the catwalk for various fashion powerhouses, including Prada, Tory Burch and Louis Vuitton. Ju is also the first Chinese face of Marc Jacobs. She walked her first Victoria’s Secret Angels Fashion Show last year.
