Stella McCartney sends message of faith and love at Paris Fashion Week AW17
Models dancing to George Michael’s “Faith” added joy to Stella McCartney’s autumn-winter 2017 collection
Stella McCartney has never been shy to send social messages through her collections and since last season her show finale has featured models singing and dancing to upbeat music.
This season, the Stella girls showed off their moves dancing to George Michael’s hit Faith at the finale as they shouted “Faith! Love!” It’s a much-needed feel-good moment for both the raining Monday morning in Paris and the gloomy and volatile luxury market.
It’s not only the ambience that was uplifting. The looks were empowering, utilitarian and tomboyish chic.
McCartney has gone for sexy yet effortless silhouettes this season with a reinterpretation of the pointed bra – sewn into tops, dresses and knits for structured overstitched cups.
For a more relaxed and laid-back silhouette, the designer opted for a line-up of head-to-toe soft jersey tailoring lush coats that are unmistakably Stella style rendered in Japanese wool, cotton and alter suede.
Equestrian-inspired tailoring was another main theme of the collection. Body-hugging show jackets and tailored dresses feature slightly elongated sleeves. The look featured structured shoulders and cinched waistlines. A horse print motif was seen on knit or silk crepe de chine.
McCartney turned the sporty chicness up a notch with oversized parkas and quilted nylon coats paired with cute plush bags. She also offered eveningwear options that were cool alternatives to the traditional floor-grazing gowns. Sheer tulleswith delicate lace were worn over a zesty lime knit dress.
