Eight-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood performed at president-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20. Before the event, a member of the president-elect’s transition team announced that the 41-year-old country music star will sing “America the Beautiful”, accompanied by The Armed Forces Chorus and The United States Naval Academy Glee Club.

Meanwhile, amid rumours that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, have “fallen out of love”, per an In Touch Weekly source, another insider revealed to Life & Style that Fisher didn’t approve of her new gig replacing Katy Perry as a judge on American Idol, worrying that “Carrie won’t be able to balance her life, commuting between Tennessee and LA”.

Fisher and Underwood have been married since 2010 and share two sons: Isaiah Michael, turning 10 next month, and Jacob Bryan, who turns six on January 21. But what else do we know about the 2005 American Idol winner’s husband?

Fisher is a retired ice hockey player. During his time in the National Hockey League, he played centre for the Ottawa Senators and later, the Nashville Predators, where he also served as the team’s captain.

Fisher mostly divides his time between his family and philanthropy. Besides hosting his own fundraising events, he works with Danita’s Children to support children in Haiti.
