A new book reveals that Donald Trump almost chose Bartiromo as his running mate before selecting J.D. Vance – but what do we know about the conservative journalist’s low-key millionaire husband?
Donald Trump almost didn’t choose J.D. Vance as his running mate, alleges an explosive new book by Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt, titled Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power. Instead, Isenstadt claims, the Maga leader was “dead serious” about having Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo as his vice-president, at least until the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July last year.
“She was great with the big-donor Wall Street types and she knew how to do TV, Trump told his team,” Isenstadt writes. Ultimately, his campaign team, led by chief of staff Susie Wiles, decided they had “no time to vet Bartiromo” and picked Vance as Trump’s running mate, according to the book.

Bartiromo, who is nicknamed “the Money Honey” from her days on the New York Stock Exchange floor as a CNBC reporter, per Forbes, is evidently quite the celebrity in the financial sphere. Over the years, she’s enjoyed dinners with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, and defended his positions and policies on air.
But besides her association with Trump, another man in her life who has drawn significant interest is her husband Jonathan Steinberg. So just who is Steinberg and what do we know about him?
He has a famous father
Jonathan Steinberg is the son of late magnate Saul Steinberg and his high school sweetheart Barbara Herzog. Per New York Magazine, Steinberg Sr was a Wharton graduate who launched the company Leasco Data Processing Equipment in his twenties and took over Reliance Insurance in 1968.
He also attempted to bring Disney and Chemical Bank into his fold but failed. While Jonathan attended Wharton like his father, per The New York Times, he had difficulty with reading and did not graduate.
