Born in South Korea, the talented gospel rock singer and mother of 2 met .Paak when he was a teaching assistant at the Musicians Institute and she was a stand-out student

Mariah Carey, 55, sparked rumours of a romance with rapper Anderson .Paak, 38, when the pair were spotted holding hands and heading to dinner in Aspen, Colorado, in December.

Last January, TMZ reported that .Paak had filed for divorce from his wife, Jae Lin, ending their 13-year marriage and seeking joint custody of their two children, Soul Rasheed and Shine Tariq.

While it seems that .Paak, a multiple Grammy Award winner, has moved on with the “All I Want for Christmas” singer, here’s a look at his ex-partner Jae Lin and the story behind their relationship.

According to The Knot and other sources, Jaylyn Chang, better known as Jae Lin, was born in Gangnam, Seoul and has built her own identity beyond her ex-husband’s spotlight. Per Esquire, she’s a singer in a gospel rock group.

According to Complex, .Paak shared in a 2016 radio interview with The Breakfast Club that he first met Jae Lin, now in her mid-30s, at the Musicians Institute, Los Angeles. He was a teaching assistant and drummer for the school’s gospel vocal class and Lin was an outstanding student. Their connection began in the classroom but quickly grew into something more profound.
