Hollywood OG action hero Bruce Willis retired from acting in March 2022, after being diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that impairs a person’s ability to comprehend or formulate language. A year later, it was revealed that his specific diagnosis was frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which has no treatment or cure.

Fans have rallied around Willis and his family since. The Die Hard star has five daughters, sharing three of them – Rumer Glenn, 36, Scout LaRue, 33, and Tallulah Belle, 30 – with ex-wife and actress Demi Moore. He has two younger daughters with his current wife, former model and entrepreneur Emma Heming – Mabel Ray, 12, and Evelyn Penn, 10.

In an interview with Katie Couric for Town & Country, Heming opened up about speaking to her young children about their father’s diagnosis, revealing that she “never tried to sugarcoat anything for them”. However, when she needs a shoulder to lean on, she turns to her stepchildren. “If I need to vent, if I need to cry, if I need to rage – because all of that can happen and it’s OK to have those feelings – they are always there to listen,” she said.

In May 2023, Tallulah, the youngest of Willis’ daughters with Moore, wrote about her own relationship with grief and coming to terms with her father’s diagnosis in a Vogue piece, where she recalls having “known that something was wrong [with her father] for a long time”. She also addressed her own health issues, such as dealing with anorexia nervosa, being treated for depression, and being diagnosed with ADHD and borderline personality disorder, all while struggling with the pain of being dumped by her fiancé, film director Dillon Buss. The same year, she was also diagnosed with autism.

In December, the budding fashion designer announced that she was engaged to musician Justin Acee. She shared a carousel of photos, showing off her ring and the romantic engagement set-up – complete with rose petals and candles.

Talullah’s sisters and Heming poured their congratulations and love for the couple into the comments. “My angels are engagedddddddddddddd,” Scout wrote.
