In high school days, a smitten Witt tracked down Black’s schedule and transferred into one of her classes to be near her – after dating for years, the pair got married this month

There’s truly nothing like a holiday wedding and MLB star Bobby Witt Jr clearly knows it. The Kansas City Royals shortstop married his long-time girlfriend and high school sweetheart, Maggie Black, on December 14 in a grand bash at the Thompson Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Guests included the whole Royals team as well as MLB hotshots including Andrew Benintendi, Cole Ragans, Whit Merrifield and Rusty Greer.

A pop-up replica Whataburger was set up at the wedding venue to add a personal touch to the celebrations. The classic Southern fast food chain has long played a part in the couple’s relationship – they used to hang out at the restaurant after games during their high school days and Witt is now a brand ambassador. Guests also sported “Let’s Get Witty” hats as they danced the night away, according to the New York Post. “Our goal was to throw the party of the year,” Black told People.
