Who is Mireddys González, Daddy Yankee’s soon-to-be ex-wife? The ‘Despacito’ rapper has been married for almost 3 decades but now says his ex and her sister stole US$100 million from his record labels
Puerto Rican reggaeton sensation Daddy Yankee had called his high school sweetheart wife, with whom he shares 2 children, his ‘boss’ and ‘the right one’ – now he’s filed a legal injunction against her
Earlier this month, the 47-year-old “Gasolina” singer revealed on his Instagram Story that “after many months of trying to save my marriage”, he and his wife of nearly three decades, Mireddys González, are parting ways. The couple tied the knot when they were still in their teens and share two adult children – daughter Jesaaelys, 28, and son Jeremy, 26. Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, also has a daughter, Yamilet, from a previous relationship. Now, the circumstances around his split from González are coming to light.
The King of Reggaeton recently filed an injunction against his ex, claiming that she withdrew US$100 million from the bank accounts of his record labels El Cartel and Los Cangris without his “knowledge” or “authorisation”, per Page Six. The court papers also named her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, who allegedly held the secretary/treasurer position at Yankee’s companies, while González was the CEO. According to Yankee, the sisters had already had their authority revoked when the alleged theft occurred.
So just who is Mireddys González, who was once called jefa (female boss) by her famous ex-husband? Here’s what to know.
She is Daddy Yankee’s high school sweetheart
She supported his career
From the very early stages of Yankee’s career to when he became a multimillionaire and eventually retired in December 2023, González stood by her man. For a long time, she was also his manager, per Billboard. Although the crimson-haired beauty admitted to having “mixed feelings” about him bidding adieu to music, she respected his decision. “You’ve enjoyed Daddy Yankee for so long, but now it’s up to Raymond Ayala to enjoy what he’s built,” she wrote on Instagram following his March 2022 announcement.
