Who is Luke Combs’ supportive wife Nicole Hocking? The former music exec met the country music star long before his Grammys performance with Tracy Chapman – and inspired his hit song ‘Beautiful Crazy’
Hocking was working 2 jobs when she met Combs at a music festival, and eventually quit them both to support him on tour; now they live a fairy tale romance in Nashville with their two sons
But at home, Combs enjoys a modern day fairy tale with his wife, Nicole Hocking. The pair met when Combs was still an unknown musician and their friends never thought the relationship would work. Hocking has since described how she supported her now-husband as his career took off, saying “I stayed home for two years pretty much as his career was growing and growing and I wanted to be there for all those first moments”.
While both are pretty laid back, Luke has credited his wife for being a “boss” and standing up for herself. Here’s what else you need to know about Nicole Hocking.
How did Luke Combs meet his wife, Nicole Hocking?
Hocking and Combs met in 2016 when they were both attending the 30A Songwriters Festival at Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. At the time, Combs was still a “starving artist” and Hocking was working for a record label.
She spotted him walking into a songwriters round by himself as she was leaving, and invited him to join her friends. “I was just like, ‘Hey, come hang out with us. Why are you by yourself?’” Hocking recalled. Combs admitted “I looked bad, too. I was wearing camo gym shorts from Walmart. Classy, classy stuff.”
They were both living in Nashville at the time and when they returned home, they started hanging out. Combs told Nashville Lifestyles in 2021 that he knew Hocking was “different than anybody I had ever met”. Hocking said she recognised that she could be herself in front of him and that’s when she knew he was a keeper. “I could wear no make-up and be my weird self – because we’re all weird, but we get to choose who to share that side of us with.”
