What’s her background?
Odette Annable (née Yustman) was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised by a first-generation Cuban mother, Lydia Nodarse, who immigrated to the US at the age of 13, and a European father, Victor Oscar Yustman, who was born in Colombia and has French, Italian and Swiss roots. Most of her childhood was spent on her grandparents’ farm. She identifies as Cuban-American.
Until about five or six years old, Odette only spoke Spanish. When she realised she was different from her peers, she struggled with “trying to fit in a box”. In an interview with The CW, she recalls visiting her mother’s homeland when she was 10 and being taken aback by the living conditions there.
