Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are about to become family: the Shrek star’s son just popped the question to the actor’s daughter Jasmin – but the question is, who’s paying for the wedding?

Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are about to become family.

As revealed at the end of November, Eddie Murphy’s son Eric popped the question to Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin, which means the two comedy legends are set to become in-laws.

“11.27.2024 We’re engaged!!” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post below a video of the lavish proposal. “God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter. Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!” they added.

According to Page Six, the lovebirds have been dating for at least three years.

It’s unclear when or where the wedding is set to happen, but their fathers were already joking about it years before their kids’ engagement. “I’m gonna try to get Eddie to pay for it,” Lawrence joked in a 2022 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

He also talked about the possibility of his daughter conceiving a “comedy super-baby” with Eddie Murphy’s son. “We haven’t talked about it,” Lawrence said, referring to him and Eddie. “We kind of just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing, and respect their thing.”

In September, Lawrence again spoke about his daughter’s relationship. “It’s beautiful,” he told E! News. “They both are beautiful young adults and they get along so well.” He also shared updates on the long running joke of who would be footing the bill. “Eddie said I had to pay for it,” Lawrence shared, adding that Murphy recently paid for his daughter Bria Murphy’s wedding to Michael Xavier. “So he said I gotta take this one on.”
