In another post, he said that it’s only his business at the end of the day. “I got outed and the world still continues to turn,” he wrote. “Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobody’s business! But I am OK with me love y’all.” On the platform, he also denied that he had been “hiding” in the first place.

As reported by Rolling Stone, it’s believed that singer Hugo D Almonte was the one who outed the 26-year-old hitmaker. Almonte wrote in since-deleted posts on X that a “gay R&B singer” had once “tried to set up and lie that I broke into his house”, which he shared in a caption alongside a pic of him and Khalid.

Khalid said in a video that he dated Almonte “four or five years ago”. The pair have not spoken since, he added.

Since news around Almonte’s outing of Khalid have surfaced, Almonte has spoken to Rolling Stone about how it was his intention to “share how [Almonte] tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship”. The internet influencer added that he’s been receiving death threats and noted that “it’s crazy that these people said I was chasing clout, when I was holding onto this for five years, and I finally had enough”.

In an statement to Vulture, Almonte shared: “[It’s] really funny how it works because my intentions was never to out someone who’s clearly been out already in the community in Los Angeles.”
