Who is Sunny Hostin’s husband, Dr Emmanuel Hostin? The View host and surgeon met at church and he tried to talk her out of plastic surgery – and what did she say about Kamala Harris’ loss?
Emmanuel lost his parents to Covid-19 and helped relief efforts after the 2010 Haitian earthquake; he also tried to talk Sunny out of having breast reduction and liposuction
As co-host of American talk show The View and legal correspondent for ABC News, Sunny Hostin is used to being in the spotlight. But her recent comments about the US presidential election, in which she attributed Kamala Harris’ loss, in part, to “uneducated white women” choosing to vote for Donald Trump, has thrust her firmly into the media’s glare. Hostin was one of several TV hosts to make comments of this nature – MSNBC host Joy Reid made similar claims, though in more fiery fashion.
Hostin’s comments came the morning after Trump’s historic re-election. During that morning’s episode of The View, she said, “Black women tried to save this country again, last night … what we do not have is white women, who voted about 52 per cent for Donald Trump – uneducated white women is my understanding. You have Latino men actually voting more for him.” She later clarified that she should have used the term “non-college-educated white women”.

She also commented on the erosion of her civil rights. “I remember my father telling me many, many years ago that I was the first person in his family to enjoy full civil rights, and now I have less civil rights than when he told me that,” she said.
Hostin has since deleted her X account. She said it felt like it was the “most patriotic” thing she could do, writing that she believed billionaire Elon Musk – now a Trump cabinet appointee – had “ruined” the platform since buying it: “Black Twitter was a thing that I loved and it was sort of replaced … with misogyny and racism.”
Hostin might be dominating headlines at the moment, but her husband Emmanuel prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Sunny has previously commented that her husband is “intensely private”. So who is Emmanuel, the man behind the outspoken TV host?
Emmanuel Hostin is a doctor
Emmanuel studied at the prestigious Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, where he also completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery. He later completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital. He’s now affiliated with the Mount Sinai hospitals in New York.
