Where are the BuzzFeed stars now – from The Try Guys to Quinta Brunson? The digital media company’s brightest alumni have been busy starting their own channels, buying mansions and hosting SNL
BuzzFeed put plenty of stars on the entertainment map, and since breaking away, the likes of Safiya Nygaard, Ryan Bergara, Quinta Brunson and The Try Guys have largely flourished
Founded in 2006 by entrepreneur Jonah Peretti to highlight viral online content, Buzzfeed quickly became known for its online quizzes, listicles and pop-culture stories. But when BuzzFeed Video came along in 2012, the brand began producing its own content, with original shows such as The Try Guys, Worth It and Night In/Night Out showcasing a new generation of online celebrities.
And while some of Buzzfeed’s biggest stars have continued to shine, others have dipped out of the spotlight. Here’s where those BuzzFeed stars are now.
Keith Habersberger, 37
Habersberger was one of the original members of The Try Guys, who rose to fame in 2014. Their videos featured a regular group of guys who tried almost everything on camera, from shaving their legs and dressing in drag to raising toddlers. In 2018, The Try Guys left BuzzFeed and started their own YouTube channel, and now have about eight million subscribers.
Habersberger, who also has his own series of YouTube videos called Keith Eats Everything, is behind signature hot condiment Keith’s Chicken Sauce, as well as burger and taco sauces. In September 2023, Habersberger and wife Becky revealed to fans that they had welcomed a baby boy named Henry, after keeping the pregnancy secret.
Zach Kornfeld, 34
Another member of The Try Guys, Zach Kornfeld is one of the presenters of the TryPod comedy podcast. Over the years, Kornfeld, now a film producer, has been open about his health struggles after suffering chronic pain from inflammatory autoimmune disease ankylosing spondylitis. Kornfeld and long-term girlfriend Maggie Bustamante announced their engagement in 2020 and walked down the aisle in February last year.
Eugene Lee Yang, 38
In May, Eugene Lee Yang made headlines when he left The Try Guys and YouTube, announcing his departure in an 18-minute farewell video. He revealed he was leaving in a bid to preserve his mental health while pursuing new career opportunities. He has been writing a two-part queer fantasy novel called The Unders, with the first book scheduled for release in January. Yang, who has been in a relationship with Matthew McLean since 2012, has also been developing his own drag persona, Cheyenne Pepper.
