Bhad Bhabie, aka Danielle Bregoli, was the subject of online speculation that she was taking Ozempic due to her dramatic weight loss – the rapper has since said that she was taking cancer medication

Rapper and internet sensation Bhad Bhabie, aka Danielle Bregoli – who attracted questions around potential Ozempic use for her transformed appearance – has just announced that it is her “cancer medication” that is making her lose weight. In an Instagram story, the “Gucci Flip Flops” rapper warned fans against “running [with] the worst narratives” and shared that she is “slowly gaining [the weight] back”.

The news was mostly met with shock, but some netizens – including celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton – expressed doubt as to whether the reality TV star was telling the truth. While Bhad Bhabie, 21, did not react, her mother, Barbara Bregoli, 56, came to her defence, saying the media personality “crossed the line” and shutting down rumours of her daughter faking a diagnosis.

Barbara Bregoli was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She welcomed Danielle with Ira Peskowitz but the two never tied the knot. Danielle was raised by her Catholic mother and was estranged from her father until recently.

Peskowitz alleged in an April 2022 interview with the US Sun that he felt forced to give up his parental rights. Two years earlier, he had accused Bregoli on Facebook of abusing their daughter. In response, Bhad Bhabie wrote on Instagram that her father “walked out on my mother when I was three months old for some stripper that he met in Canada, then got married to her … the day after my first birthday, which he wasn’t ever here for”.
