Meet Alan Dershowitz’s crossword-writing daughter, Ella Dershowitz: her career couldn’t be more different from that of her dad, who’s famous for representing Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein
Ella Dershowitz is a woman of many talents – not only has she appeared in numerous TV shows and theatre productions, but she writes fiendishly difficult crosswords for The New York Times and others
Ella Dershowitz is not your typical nepo baby.
Per Page Six, her crosswords have been placed in noteworthy broadsheet newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and most recently, The New York Times.
That she contributes to The New York Times at all is somewhat ironic given that her father is a key contributor to the paper’s right-wing competitor, The New York Sun, which relaunched in 2022. “Like you, we’ve screamed and shouted about the injustice of the [New York] Times claiming to be America’s ‘Paper of Record’, The Sun’s publisher wrote in one editorial note to readers. “But now it’s time to do something. It’s time to join the movement to rebuild a better newspaper.”
In another mail out, Dershowitz is quoted directly: “In today’s media landscape there are far too many publications that get things wrong. Many are more concerned with the political implications of a story than the basic facts. The New York Sun is different. It’s a paper that places principle over politics and people over party.”
So maybe there is a connection after all – and who knows, maybe Ella’s work will be published in the revamped publication. Here’s what we know about Ella Dershowitz:
