Meet Steve Irwin’s son Robert, who’s turning 21: the Australian conservationist has been working with Prince William in South Africa and is following in his late father’s ‘wildlife warrior’ footsteps
Robert Irwin was named a Global Ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize earlier this year, and recently joined the royal in Africa to discuss conservation – here’s what else you need to know
Irwin’s father Steve was a beloved conservationist known for his TV series The Crocodile Hunter. The passionate environmentalist died unexpectedly in 2006 after being attacked by a stingray.
In the wake of his father’s untimely death, Robert has clearly stepped into his father’s shoes. Here’s everything to know about Steve Irwin’s son, Robert Irwin.
He was home-schooled in a zoo
Robert Irwin was born in 2003 in Queensland, Australia, to parents Steve and Terri Irwin. He has an older sister named Bindi, who’s now 26.
The Irwin siblings were home-schooled at Australia Zoo – formerly the Beerwah Reptile Park – owned by their parents. The sprawling wildlife park is currently run by Terri Irwin and according to its website, “encompasses over 700 acres [283 hectares] and employs over 500 staff”.
He is often compared to his father
With his sandy blond hair and cheeky grin, Robert certainly reminds viewers of a certain age of his late father.
