The Arizona businesswoman and Kamala Harris supporter is known for running Camelback Productions and Arizona Land Consulting, and recently moved into the late actor’s home after an off-market purchase

Nearly a year after the death of Friends star Matthew Perry, the woman who bought the house he died in has released a statement and pictures of herself at the home, explaining that she plans to “honour the positive aspects” of Perry.

Real estate consultant and film production company founder Anita Verma-Lallian posted images of herself at the Los Angeles pad where Perry died last October. She said she knew when she walked into the house that it was “the one”. Perry was found in his hot tub after an acute ketamine overdose.

So who is the Arizona businesswoman everyone is talking about? Here’s what you need to know.

People magazine confirmed in October that Perry’s home had been sold for US$8.5 million in an off-market deal. Per the publication, Perry bought the home in 2020 for US$6 million. On Instagram, Verma-Lallian wrote that she was smitten with the home the moment she walked in. “I absolutely fell in love with the features, especially the view of the Pacific Ocean. We knew it was ‘the one’ and decided to write an offer on it immediately.”

Knowing that the home not only belonged to Perry but was also where he died, Verma-Lallian said she wanted to honour the Friends actor. “We chose to honour the positive aspects of the previous owner’s life, his immense talent, and all the joy he brought to so many people.”

Posting pictures of herself next to the pool during a prayer ceremony, Verma-Lallian explained why she was having the house blessed. “I am Hindu, and it’s customary to do a blessing and prayer anytime you buy a new home. We were so lucky to have our Panditji from Arizona come to the house to do the blessing.”

She owns a film-production company

Per Forbes, much of her career has been spent helping investors find their ideal space, leading her to manage a portfolio worth over US$1 billion. In an interview with Canvas Rebel, Verma-Lallian said she began her company, Arizona Land Consulting, in 2020 after leaving the family business, Vermaland. “We have been instrumental in large businesses coming to Arizona and the development of Phoenix, focusing on attracting companies that will positively affect the landscape,” she told the publication.
