The US elections are in the home straight – and all eyes are on American politicians as they canvas support for their party, their party’s leaders and presidential nominees, and themselves.
The US Congress has two chambers: the Senate and the House of Representatives. They are the legislative branch of the government; together, they pass bills, while the Senate confirms presidential nominations and approves treaties.
Here’s a look at the richest politicians in Congress at the time of writing, according to Quiver Quantitative, which keeps a live tracker on their assets based on portfolios and stock movements.

If you recognise his name, it’s probably because he was the lead counsel in the first impeachment of former president Donald Trump. Goldman, now in the House of Representatives, served as the Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York and is well regarded for his commitment to criminal justice reform. He has also made headlines as heir to the Levi Strauss empire; according to Bloomberg in 2022, personal disclosures revealed an estimated wealth of US$253 million.
6. Mitt Romney
Republican
Estimated net worth: US$235 million
Utah Senator Mitt Romney confirmed last year that he would not seek re-election in 2024. At 77 years old, the career politician said in an interview with The Atlantic that he was looking forward to retiring, citing stress, and said retirement would be good for his health. The former presidential contender said he hoped his retirement would make way for a new generation of leaders – and suggested Trump and Joe Biden should follow his example.
