Where is former child star Charlotte Church now? The ‘Voice of an Angel’ dipped out of the industry as a teen, blew her money on a wellness retreat, and made a podcast with a nod to the Kardashians
- Charlotte Church sang for everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Pope John Paul II as a child star, but quit as a teen because the music industry made her feel ‘like a product’
- These days she has her own podcast, Kicking Back with the Cardiffians – which she says is the antithesis of Keeping Up with the Kardashians – continues to sing, and has her own retreat in Wales
Now 38, her life has spiralled off in yet more directions – but it’s clear that she’s finally where she wants to be.
“I look back and I wish I would have … been a bit more confident in … my choices rather than being made to feel like a product,” she told OK! magazine when asked about her time as a young person in the music industry. “I’m also a bit older now so I try not to look back too much,” she added.
So now that she’s back in her power, what has Charlotte Church been up to?
She’s had three children
The Welsh songstress has three children. Her elder two, Ruby and Dexter, were born in 2007 and 2009, respectively – meaning they’re both now in their teens – and her youngest, Frida, is four. She was married to Welsh rugby star Gavin Henson, with whom she had Ruby and Dexter, but the couple split in 2010, and Church is now married to fellow singer Jonathan Powell.
She’s no longer a millionaire
Despite amassing a fortune of more than US$30 million as a young star, according to The Express, Church admitted this year that she was “not a millionaire any more”. Speaking to Closer, she said that she recently had to “massively downsize” from a US$2.9 million mansion to a semi-detached house, for financial reasons.
