Country singer Garth Brooks, 62, may have retired two decades ago, but is making headlines again after being accused of rape, sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed in California state court on Thursday.
The accuser, who used the pseudonym “Jane Roe” in the lawsuit, alleges that Brooks raped her while she was employed as his hairstylist and make-up artist back in 2019. The lawsuit further alleges that Brooks sexually harassed her on multiple occasions throughout her employment, which dates back to 2017, and even proposed a threesome with his wife, fellow country singer Trisha Yearwood.
Brooks has denied all the allegations so far, telling the BBC that the woman’s lawsuit was “extortion and defamation”. The singer has been married to Yearwood since 2005, who is now a devoted stepmum to his three daughters Taylor, August and Allie, from his previous marriage to Sandy Mahl from 1986 to 2000.
The Tulsa native has acknowledged the challenges of parenting. “[Kids] are the greatest joy and the greatest heartache,” he told People in 2015. Despite these challenges, he credits Yearwood for being an exceptional “bonus mum.”
So what do we know about Garth Brooks’ 3 daughters?
1. Taylor Mayne Pearl Brooks, 32
Taylor Brooks, 32, was born in July 1992, but her arrival wasn’t without its challenges. Her mother, Sandy Mahl, experienced a scare during pregnancy when she collapsed and nearly lost the baby. Fortunately, the pregnancy continued without further issues, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Now a mother herself, Taylor has chosen to live a life away from the public eye. She pursued higher education, earning a history degree from Oklahoma State University and later a master’s in theological studies from Vanderbilt University, per People.
