Meet Macklemore’s supportive wife, Tricia Davis: The former nurse met the pro-Palestinian rapper on MySpace and supported him through addiction – now she’s his tour manager, stylist and video producer
Macklemore is no stranger to controversy, most recently saying ‘f*** America’ onstage at a pro-Palestine charity concert in Seattle – so just who is his loyal wife, Tricia Davis?
It feels like Macklemore has been making headlines almost every other week since releasing “Hind’s Hall” in May. The American rapper got plenty of coverage for his pro-Palestine song, reportedly named in honour of a six-year-old girl killed in Gaza.
Then, last month in Slovakia, Macklemore invited a fan onstage at Bratislava’s Lovestream Festival, not realising she was wanted by police. After videos of her onstage circulated on social media, local authorities were able to arrest her.
And just last week, the rapper was caught up in another controversy after videos of him saying “f*** America” while performing onstage at Palestine Will Live Forever – a charity music festival held in Seattle – went viral.
Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, addressed the backlash he received for his outburst in a lengthy statement on Instagram.
“My thoughts and feelings are not always expressed perfectly or politely. Sometimes I slip up and get caught in the moment. Saturday night was one of those times,” he said. “I see dismembered kids in Gaza being pulled out of rubble, murder by US manufactured bombs. I see my own children in their lifeless bodies,” he added.
