Who is Jodie Foster’s wife Alexandra Hedison? The True Detective actress just paid tribute to her partner of over a decade in a heartfelt Emmys speech
A photographer and director, Hedison has a new short documentary about the non-binary author and performer Alok Vaid-Menon; she’s been with Foster since 2013 and previously dated Ellen DeGeneres
She made sure to acknowledge the most important people in her life, particularly her sons, Charles, 26, and Kit, 22, and her wife, Alexandra Hedison, who she’s been married to for a decade now. “The love of my life, Alex Hedison, my wife. Thank you so much!” Foster said at the end of her speech.
Despite years in the public eye, Foster and Hedison have kept their relationship relatively under wraps. The pair quietly tied the knot in 2014, and while they’re very private when they’re around people they don’t know, “when they’re together, it can be like they’re in their own world”, a source told People.
So who is Alexandra Hedison, the woman who stole the heart of one of Hollywood’s most talented actresses? Here’s everything to know about her.
Alexandra Hedison has explored multiple career paths
Hedison holds an impressive résumé that stretches far beyond her Hollywood ties. First and foremost, she’s a photographer, with her work featured in galleries and private collections worldwide. “I have to do my photography because that’s my work and it makes me so happy,” she told The New York Times in 2004.
Her creative ventures don’t stop there. In 2006, she tried her hand at home design, even appearing on the reality TV series Designing Blind.
She was an actress but it made her ‘miserable’
Before transitioning to photography and design, Hedison dabbled in acting, appearing in 90s shows such as Melrose Place and Lois & Clark. She also had a recurring role on The L Word in the noughties. Still, acting wasn’t her true passion. “I was supporting myself, but I was miserable,” she told The New York Times. “Actors need to be front and centre all the time. That’s not me.”
