Hailing from Chicago, Piet, now 40, graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in film. He later returned to Chicago to dive into the production industry, as per Deadline.
What does Steven Piet do for work?
Piet’s talents shine through his work as a director and screenwriter. He directed episodes of Channel Zero, A Friend of the Family and The Act, where King played controversial reality TV star and convicted murderer Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Piet also co-wrote and co-directed the 2015 indie film Uncle John and co-executive produced both The Act and Briarpatch.
The 40-year-old talked to Vanity Fair in 2019 about directing The Act, saying, “I felt like my job was to step back as much as I could, and just have the camera in the right place and let these amazing actors do what they do best … At times, I was so lost in their performances that I was forgetting to say ‘cut’.”
