She was one of TV’s highest-paid actresses when she got divorced in 2018, and she and Phillips split their multimillion-dollar assets … but what of her supposed feud with Sofía Vergara?

Modern Family legend Julie Bowen, aka Claire Dunphy, has arguably been one of the most iconic fixtures of American television in the last decade. The two-time Emmy winner is now working on another potential mega-hit called Hysteria! alongside Anna Camp and Bruce Campbell. The Peacock show revolves around the “satanic panic of the late 1980s”, per the series synopsis, and will premiere on October 18 … right on time for the spooky season.

While everyone’s excited to see Bowen back on screens, Hysteria! is not the only reason the actress is making headlines. She recently appeared as a guest on Jennie Garth’s 90210MG podcast, where she revealed what was behind the scenes in her “feud” with Modern Family co-star Sofía Vergara.

Bowen blamed the press for creating a rivalry between the two out of thin air, claiming the media were “determined to pit us against each other, like we hated each other”. Bowen added that, in reality, she learned a lot from the Griselda actress, like “what it is to be a really powerful, completely herself woman”, per Variety. In the same podcast, she also opened up about single life since divorcing Scott Phillips, her husband of 13-plus years, and putting herself first.

Julie Bowen and Scott Phillips married in 2004 and have three children together: 17-year-old Oliver McLanahan, and 15-year-old twins Gustav and John. Bowen has been co-parenting the kids together with Phillips since finalising their divorce in 2018. Bowen shared on The Motherly Podcast that her No 1 rule about co-parenting with Phillips is “never smack talk each other, no matter what”, which, per the Boston Legal star, creates a safe space for the children.

He asked for spousal support

While Bowen and Phillips’ divorce proceedings were under way, TMZ reported that the latter had asked for spousal support from the Lost star who, at the time, was one of the highest-paid TV actresses, according to Forbes. The former couple ended up splitting their US$25.3 million assets, with him getting US$12.3 million as well as their marital home worth US$5.4 million, per People.
