Who is Rod Stewart’s ice hockey playing son, Liam Stewart? The 30-year-old recently got married in the Croatian church from Game of Thrones
Rod Stewart’s family continues to expand: in the past year, the ageing rocker celebrated the arrival of another grandson and a new daughter-in-law thanks to his 6th son, Liam
In celebration of the special occasion, the 79-year-old rocker wrote on Instagram, “I’m immensely proud to have witnessed the beautiful wedding ceremony of my son Liam to his bride Nicole. What a wonderful union of The Stewarts and The Artukoviches. May they continue to find joy, love and laughter for as long as they may live and produce many more babies to join their little one-year-old boy, Louie”.
Before their big day, the couple-to-be hosted a party by the sea at Hotel Excelsior in Dubrovnik, as reported by People. As the clock struck midnight on their wedding day, the family also celebrated Liam’s sister Renee Stewart’s 32nd birthday on June 1.
All the lavish festivities aside, what do we know about Liam Stewart, and what does he think about his nepo baby status?
Liam Stewart is an ice hockey player
While he may not be in the same spotlight as his superstar dad or model mum, Stewart is quite the celebrity in the sports world. He’s an ice hockey player with a gold medal to his name after competing for Britain at the 2017 Ice Hockey Division 1B World Championship in Northern Ireland. He has played all over the world for teams including the Spokane Chiefs, the Alaska Aces, the SkyCity Stampede, and most recently, Milton Keynes Lightning.
In July, though, MK Lightning announced Stewart’s departure from the team, expressing their gratitude for his “incredible skill, dedication and passion to the ice”. The team’s official notice also stated that they “look forward to the day you return to the ice in an MKL jersey”. Stewart, whose nickname is “Disco”, left the team after four years to “fully focus on family, parenthood and ‘real life’”.
