In a recent Instagram post captioned “a beautiful day celebrating love”, Australian influencer Tahlia Skaines stunned in a white cut-out dress dubbed the “fatale maxi dress” by Styled Studio. The 29-year-old, who boasts 830,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing, paired it with silver heels and a metallic purse.
After a picture of her in the dress was reposted on Facebook and went viral, netizens were quick to point out that not only is wearing white to a Western-style wedding usually a big no-no, many also considered the dress too over the top for someone else’s big day. Criticisms were thrown left and right in her Instagram comments section too, from “inappropriate” to “tacky”.

When a commenter suggested she have “a shred of decency and decorum”, she matter-of-factly justified her fashion choice. “There was a dress code and it was white lol. The dress was absolutely nothing like the bride’s and she loved my dress. But thank you so much for your unsolicited, outdated advice,” she wrote, adding some peace sign emojis.
